Since its foundation in 1925, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso has dedicated to serve the Valparaíso Region providing a unique academic experience that combines high academic standards and social commitment.
The University is an institution dedicated, enlightened by Christian faith, to the cultivation and dissemination of knowledge in science, art and professional and technical fields. It is a comprehensive University, serving a student population of 14,000; it is an intensive research institution, graduating annually more than 20 Ph.D student’s, thus contributing to the country’s development.
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso grants undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 60 fields. In the graduate level the University covers areas such as Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Biochemistry Engineering, Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Law, Mathematics Teaching, Philosophy, History, Computer Science, Linguistics, Literature, Psychology, Architecture, Design, Education, Oceanography, Agronomy, Social Work and International Relations.
PUCV welcomes around 850 international students every year who come from various destinations such as the United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brasil, to name a few.
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso is fully accredited by the National Acreditation Commission under the aegis of the Chilean Ministry of Education.
